The Morton Arboretum relies heavily on the commitment and dedication of its volunteers. This video encourages visitors to become part of the arboretum through volunteering and training to become stewards. Stewardship takes a volunteer’s commitment to another level, involving a person in the rehabilitation or maintenance of a particular area of Morton’s 1,700 acres and giving them a sense of ownership. But Morton’s stewards will gladly tell you that the pay-off is not one sided at all. Stewards gain as much as they give, if not more.
